Breaded Lemon, Garlic Tilapia Filet, S

Published by Espressoyourself on

Man, that was sooooo good! Breaded, lemony, crisp edged delicious tilapia filets….. here’s how I did it: I bought the filets at Aldis. Then I put thawed filets in an egg, lemon mixture, breaded them and baked them in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes. They were so good, with a salad, fried mushrooms, and a tiny bit of rice…. oh, and I had fresh-out-of-the-same-oven yummy sourdough biscuits. Food fit for a king!

Ingredients:

5 tilapia filets (or other fish) thawed

1 egg white or whole egg

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/4 cup Melted butter

1/4 – 1/2 cup nutritional yeast (or sourdough or sprouted bread crumbs)

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp garlic powder or several cloves minced garlic

1 tsp mineral salt

1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Put the butter in a 9×13 pan and put it in the oven while it’s preheating. When the butter is melted, take a few tablespoons out to drizzle over the fish later. Mix an egg and the lemon juice in a bowl. Dip the thawed filets in the egg mixture. Mix the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings in another bowl. Transfer the filets one by one from the egg mixture to the bread crumb mixture, then to the buttery pan. Drizzle the butter on top and any leftover crumb mixture. Bake at 400 for 20 -25 minutes. Serve and ENJOY!!!!

Coconut oil can be subbed for butter.

If the fish is frozen, it will get more watery….

Nutritional yeast is a lovely addition to the crumb mixture, but if you don’t have it, bread crumbs are great too!

For bread crumbs, take the heels or day old sourdough bread and toast in the oven on low. Then when it’s dry and hard, blend it into crumbs. Label and freeze. (Using bread crumbs would take it to crossover level for the THM’ers)
